Two people were killed Monday night when their Ford Taurus was hit by a pickup, police say.
A child has been hospitalized and two adults have died after a violent crash in Dallas Monday night.
Dallas police say the driver of a pickup truck ran a red light and collided with three other cars at the intersection of Jim Miller Road and Military Parkway just before 9:30 p.m.
One of the vehicles, a Ford Taurus, slammed into a utility pole and a 6-year-old girl was ejected from the car. The child was found lying in the street and was transported to an area hospital where she was last listed in critical condition.
The two adults in the Taurus with the child died. One of the adults has been identified as 43-year-old Lashun Russell from Dallas. The man in the car with Russell has not yet been identified.
Two other vehicles were involved in the collision. The driver of one of the vehicles escaped injury while the other driver was transported to an area hospital. Her condition is not known but she is expected to recover from her injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck, later identified as 33-year-old Leodegario Hernandez Juarez, suffered a possible broken wrist and was transported to Baylor Medical Center under police guard.
Dallas police said Juarez tried to walk away from the crash but was held at the scene by a good Samaritan until police arrived.
Juarez was later charged with two charges of intoxication manslaughter and one charge of intoxication assault. Officials said he may face additional charges.
