Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Arlington.
At about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Arlington Police Department performed a welfare check on an 18-year-old woman at the request of her family, who said she hadn't arrived to pick up her young daughter.
When officers arrived at the girl's apartment on the 2700-block of Medicine Pass, they found blood outside at the door.
Once inside the apartment, officers found the bodies of a man and woman, dead from an apparent murder-suicide. The pair were believed to be an estranged couple with the man in his early 20s.
Officers received a shots fired call in the area at about 10 p.m., but did not find anything. Authorities are now looking into whether the call is related to the deaths.
The medical examiner is conducting a forensic investigation and the names of the victims will be released after the families have been notified.
Although it is early in the investigation, Arlington police said there is no evidence that there is a suspect at large and that no one else is believed to have been in the residence at the time of the shootings.
NBC 5's Christina Miralla and Frank Heinz contributed to this report.
