The tweets as sent by the Cowboys, Stars.
The Dallas Cowboys can be thanked for Tuesday's reminder about watching what you say on social media.
Tuesday morning, someone tweeted from @DallasCowboys a message that said, "Similarly in the category of nobody-cares...the NHL is back!"
We'll give the sender the benefit of the doubt and assume that the tweet was meant to be read by followers of their personal account and not the 502,000 followers of @DallasCowboys -- especially since the tweet has now been deleted.
Still, the folks with the Stars took offense, naturally, and retweeted the message while taking a shot at Tony Romo that said, "At least our #9 got the job done," complete with a pic of Stars and NHL-great Mike Modano, who wore No. 9, holding up the Stanley Cup after the team's 1999 championship season.
Bazinga!
The Cowboys quickly issued an apology on Twitter that said, "@DallasStars our sincere apologies for the inappropriate tweet posted accidentally to our account. Good luck this season."
The Stars accepted the apology.
